Slow Cooker Monkey Bread or why you should always stock up on butter

Last night a had a great hankering for monkey bread and I remembered that I had seen recipes for making it in the crock pot so I set out to combine about five different recipes to make monkey bread (I didn't want to run to the store for packaged biscuits or yeast rolls).

To begin, make yeast rolls:

I just used this to get the dough; since I was not making mine in the oven I ignored baking directions. Also, I definitely had more than 32 pieces.

Once you have dough in pieces dip in melted butter (I used a stick of butter but only melted a bit as needed)
and then dip in instant pudding mix (I used vanilla homemade mix from this site: http://www.alwaysorderdessert.com/2011/02/diy-vanilla-instant-pudding-mix.html#.Udr2pflOOX8  but feel free to use whatever flavor suits you. I bet dulce de leche or butterscotch would be great but I haven't tried them.) then placed in greased slow cooker. Once you have dipped all the pieces in butter and mix throw any leftovers on top of the bread in the crock pot.

Cook on low for around 2-3 hours.  We let ours cook four just under 2 and 1/2 hours.
